STICKY: to do list

planning — tom on January 1, 2008 at 12:00 pm

I figure it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make a list of the steps that are left to do in each object, as far as I can see from here. I plan to cross things off and date it when I get them done.

This list comes from March 26:

alienation prosthesis

  • 2 more working perfboards (3/27/08)
I’m going to stick with breadboards, as per Andy’s suggestion
  • Fit and finish: getting the objects powered cleanly (3/29/08)
  • order 3 or 4 working xbees (the ones I have are weird, weird, weird) (3/30/08)
  • Conversation/code work for xbee distance tracking with Daniel Liss (3/31/08)
  • Get xbee distance sensing working (3/31/08)
  • get the LEDs to output a decent PWM in proportion to xbee strength (4/5/08)
  • silicone casting for box lids (4/2/08)
  • assemble, lacing tops on boxes with red thread (first object) (4/17/08)
  • assemble, lacing tops on boxes with red thread (second object) (4/19/08)
  • >assemble, lacing tops on boxes with red thread (third object) (4/19/08)
  • make a pocket-sized broadcaster to interact with boxes (4/27/2008)
  • debug

anxiety prosthesis

  • reconnect shoulders to cast (3/28/08)
  • build a jig for molding (4/7/08)
  • finish thinking about how the mold will work (2 layers, 3?) (4/8/08)
  • make layer one of silicone skin (4/10/08)
  • make layer two of silicone skin (4/12/08)
  • mark silicone for hackle placement (4/12/08)
  • make hackle cutting tool (thin metal strip, bent, sharpened) (4/12/08)
  • order pulley wheels, standoffs, screws for the number of hackles (4/2/08) no time to waste–ordering 30
  • cut hackles (4/14/08)
  • build mechanics for the pulley system (4/17/08)
  • add grommets for control lines in the front (4/22/08)
  • build armature that will dictate final form (4/22/08)
  • cut the two silicone pieces to how they will look as an object (4/21/08)
  • assemble, screw edges together (4/21/08)
  • finetune the way it works (probably ongoing)

insecurity prosthesis

  • make pattern from prototoype (abandoned 3/31/08)
  • make wire mesh shape of final object
  • coat wire mesh in papier-mâché
  • upholster papier-mâché in foam, incorporating warming mat (weights?)
  • cast a large, thin sheet of silicone
  • cut out shapes, sew together with red thread
  • fit and finish, how cord comes out, how control is made safe

paper and presentation

  • submit thesis for show (4/13/08)
  • make an outline for paper (4/27/08)
  • write paper (5/6/08)
  • document prosthetics
  • make presentation (5/6/08)
