Anekdota is an experiential speculative artifact that manifests a deceased loved ones location history metadata as an embodied, locative experience. It is a metadta detector that follows location history as a physical trace, conveying the presence of data both visually and haptically. On its circular display, Anekdota generates black and red wave visualizations that change to indicate the presence of nearby metadata, as well as their characteristics: how many moments have been logged here? Has the person been moving or standing still? A user can follow along bequeathed travel trajectories, and notice when they stumble into places of interest.
